Answer:

Six years ago,

Let the son's age be x yrs

Let the father's age be 5x yrs

Therefore,

Present age of son = (x+6)yrs

Present age of father = (5x+6)yrs

According to question sum of present ages of father and son equals 60, therefore:

x+6+5x+6=60

6x+12=60

6x=48

x=8

Therefore son's age before 6 yrs was 8yrs

Present son's age is (8+6)=14yrs

Son's age after 6yrs will be (14+6)= 20 years

So your answer is 20 years
