let the son's present age be x
then father's age is 20+x
A/Q,
12 years ago means sons age = x-12
father's age 12 years ago = 20+x-12
but it is said that it was 6 times sons age so,
6(x-12)=20+x-12
6x-72=8+x
6x-x=8+72
5x=80
x=80/5
=16
Therefore son's present age is x=16
father's present age =20+x=20+16=36
then father's age is 20+x
