To Find : Present age of father and his son.

Solution : Let, present age of son be x.

Now, according to given,

⟹ age of father = x + 24 ----{ 1 }

Now, after two years age of father and his son.

⟹ age of father = x + 24 + 2

⟹ age of father = x + 24 + 2

⟹ age of father = x + 26

and,

⟹ age of son = x + 2

Now, here we know, after two years age of father will be 5 times as old as his son.

⟹ age of father = 5 * (age of son)

⟹ x + 26 = 5 * (x + 2)

⟹ x + 26 = 5x + 10

⟹ x - 5x = 10 - 26

⟹ - 4x = - 16

⟹ 4x = 16

⟹ x = 16/4

⟹ x = 4

Now, put value of y in eq. { 1 }

⟹ age of father = x + 24

⟹ age of father = 4 + 24

⟹ age of father = 28

Answer : Hence, present age of father is 28 years and present age of his son is 4 years.
