let the father age be = x

and the son age be= y

now according to 1st condition

x= 30y ........... ( -1 )

according to 2nd condition

x+18 = 3(y+18)

x-3y= 36. ............ (-2)

now using Eq 1 and 2

we get y = 36/27 =4/3 = 1.3 years

x = 40 years

here is Ur answer hope it will help u.

hey! your answer is here..
let son age be x
then the father age will be
30x

18 year later

30x+18=3(x+18)
30x+18=3x+54
30x-3x=54-18
27x=36
x=36/27
x=4/3

father age = 30x
= 30*4/3
=40

hope it helps......
