and father be 'y' years.

      x+30 = y
=> x-y = 30   ------- (1)

 also, 3(x+12) = (y+12)
=> 3x+36 = y+12
=> 3x-y = 12-36
=> 3x-y = -24
=> 3x+24 = y
=> 3x+24 = x+30
=> 2x=6
=>x=3
therefore, x(son's age)=3years
                y(father's age) =33years
