Answer:

Option c) 40 years

The present age of the father is 40 years.

Given that :

Father is = 30 years older than his son.

After 5 years = Father will be three times the age of his son

To find :

Father's present age

\huge{\sf{\boxed{\boxed{Solution:}}}}

Let the present ages be -

Son as y

Father as (30 + y)

Ages after 5 years -

Son = (y + 5)

Father = (30 + y) + 5

⇒ 3(y + 5) = (30 + y) + 5

⇒ 3y + 15 = 30 + y + 5

⇒ 3y + 15 = 35 + y

⇒ 3y - y = 35 - 15

⇒ 2y = 20

⇒ y = 20/2

⇒ y = 10

Son's present age = 10 years

★ Value of (30 + y)

⇒ 30 + 10

⇒ 40

Father's present age = 40 years

∴ The present age of the father is 40 years.
