Let the age of son be x
Therefore father's age = x+30
According to question
3x+12=x+30+12
3×-x=30+12-12
2x=30
x=30/2
x=15
present age of son is 15 years and age of father is 15+30=45

aloha user!!

let the age of son be x
age of father is given to be 30 + x

now,

 In 12 years ,the man will be three times as old as his son

30 + x + 12 = 3 ( x + 12 )
42 + x = 3x + 36
42 - 36 = 3x - x
2x = 6
x = 3

the age  of son is 3 years
the age of father is 3 + 30 => 33 years
