Answer:

Let the present age of the son be x years.

Then, father's age will be -

  • ( x + 30 ) yrs.

In question it is given that after 12 years father will be three times as old his son -

 \\ \text{Therefore,} \\ \\ \\ \implies \sf \: 3 \: (x + 12) = x + 30 + 12 \\ \\ \\ \implies \sf \: 3x + 36 = x + 42 \\ \\ \\ \implies \sf \: 3x - x = 42 - 36 \\ \\ \\ \implies \sf \: 2x = 6 \\ \\ \\ \implies \sf \: x = \cancel \frac{6}{2} \\ \\ \\ \implies \large{ \boxed{ \sf \: x = 3}} \\ \\

So, the present age of the son is 3 years.

Age of father -

 \\ \\ \sf \: x + 30 \\ \\ \\ \sf = 3 + 30 \\ \\ \\ \sf = 33 \: \: years. \\ \\

Therefore, the present age of the father is 33 years.

Answer :-

  • Here we are taking the present age of son be x years.

Thats why father's age will be :-

  • ( x + 30 ) years.

As per the question it is given that after 12 years father will be three times as old his son :-

3 (x + 12) = x + 30 + 12

→ 3x + 36 = x + 42

→ 3x - x = 42 - 36

→ 2x = 6

→ x = 6/2

x = 3

Therefore, the present age of the son is 3 years

Now age of father :-

x + 30

→ 3 + 30

33 years

Therefore, the present age of father is 33 years.
