Answer:

Let son's age be x.

Then, father's age= 3x

After fifteen years:

Father's age= 3x+15  ..............(After fifteen years means +15)

Son's age= x+15          .............(After fifteen years means +15)

father will be 2( his son's age)

Thus, 3x+15=2(x+15)

3x+15=2x+30

3x-2x=30-15

x=15

Son's age is 15.

Father's age= 3(son's age)

=3(15)

=45 years.

Thus, son is 15 years, father is 45 years.

Step-by-step explanation:

let the age of son = x

then the age of his father will be 3 times as old as his son = 3x

after 15 years

age of son = x+15

age of father will be only twice as old as his son

3x + 15 = 2(x+15)

3x + 15 = 2x + 30

3x = 2x + 15

x = 15

therefore

the present age of son is 15 years

the present age of his father is 45 years.
