Step-by-step explanation:

Let x yr be the present age of father and y yr be the present age of son.

Four years hence, it has relation by given condition,

(x + 4) = 4(y + 4)

⇒ x-4y = 12 …(i)

and x = 6y …(ii)

On putting the value of x from Eq. (ii) in Eq. (i), we get

6y-4y=12

⇒ 2y = 12

⇒ y = 6

When y = 6, then x = 36

Hence, present age of father is 36 yr and age of son is 6 yr.

Answer:

Let \: son's \:present \: age \: be \: x

Father's \: present \: age \: = 4x

After \: 5 \: years

 son's \: age \: = x + 5

 father's \: age \: = 4x + 5

ATQ,

4x + 5 = 3(x + 5)

4x + 5 = 3x + 15

4x - 3x = 15 - 5

x = 10

 Son's \: present \: age \: = x = 10 \: years

 Father's \: present \: age \: = 4x = 4 \times 10 = 40 \: years
