A father is five times as old as his son. Thirteen years hence, the father will be three times as old as his son will be then. Find their present age​

Let  present age of son be 'x' years and father be 'y' years.

From question,

y = 5x ( as the father is 5 times older than his son)

y+13 = 3(x+13)

5x+13 = 3x + 39

5x-3x = 39-13

2x = 26

x = 13

Son is 13 yrs old.

y = 5x

y = 5*13

y = 65 yrs.

So, age of father is 65 yrs and son is 13 yrs
