Let present age of son and his Father is
Son age be y
And, Father age be 4y
So, the equation becomes
y = 4y
After four years
y + 4 = 4y + 4
Father is three times as old as his son
So, their ages become
3 ( y + 4) = (4y + 4)
3y + 12 = 4y + 4
12 - 4 = 4y - 3y
y = 8
So,
Age of Son = y
= 8 years old
Age of Father = 4y
= 4 × 8
= 32 years old
Hope, it is helpful
