let the present age of son be x,

then the present age of father will be 4x,

After 24 years son age will be x+24

and father age will be 4x+24

Given the ratio of there ages are 1:3

x+24:4x+24=1:3

3x+72=4x+24

x=48

Therefore the present age of son is 48

and present age of father is 4×48=192.
