let the son's age be x

therefore, father's age equals to 3x

After 12 months,

son's age will be x +12

and father age will be 3x+12

ATQ,

2*x+12=3x+12,

2x+24=3x+12,

24-12=3x-2x,

12=x

i.e.x=12

And,3x=36
