a father is three times as old as his son.after twelve years his age will be twice as that of the age of his son.find their present ages by using two variables.

Father = 3 × Son
Father + 12 = 2 × (Son + 12)

Subtract the 2nd equation from the 1st. :
-12 = Son - 24
Son = 12 yrs
Father = 36 yrs
