A father is three times as old as his son. four years ago the father was four times as old as his son find the age of each.


narendramodi1366: in first equation x=3y. and second is x-3y+12 by solving it from elimination method we get y=2 and x=6

Let the age of father and son be x nd y respectively.
Firstly the eqn will be x=3y
nd x-3=4y....solve it by elimination or substitution u will get the answer...hope it helped plz follow me and mark as braniliest

let the age of father be :3x
then age of son be : x

four years ago
let age of father be: 4y =3x-4........(1)
then age of son be : y =x-4 ............(2)

eq(1) - 4*eq(2)
4y-4y= 3x-4-4x+16
0= -x+12
x=12
3x=36
present age of son=12
present age of father = 36
