Let the present age of son be x.

So, father's age =3x

Six years ago,

Son's age =x-6

Father's age = 3x-6

But A/Q

Father's age = 5× son's age

3x-6=5(x-6)

3x-6 =5x -30

-6 +30 =5x -3x

24 =2x

24/2 = x

12 = x

So, the present age of son = x =12 years

Father = 3x = 3×12

=36 years
