Answers:-

✳ Present age of son = 12 years.

✳ Present age of the father = 36 years.

SOLUTION

Let us assume that the present age of the son = 'x' years.

Then , according to the question father is three times as old his son.

\implies Present age of the father = 3x \longrightarrow(1)

Also , it is said in the question that after 12years the age of father becomes double of the age of his son.

The age of son after 12 years = x + 12 years.

                            and

The age of father after 12 years = 2 (x + 12).

\implies 3x + 12 = 2(x + 12)

\implies 3x + 12 = 2x + 24

\implies 3x - 2x = 24 - 12

\implies x = 12

The present age of the son (x) = 12 years.

From(1) , age of father = 3x

\implies 3 × 12 = 36 years.

The present age of the father (3x) = 36 years.
