a father is three times old as his son .In 12 years time he will be twice as old as his son.find the present age of father and son​

Here is ur answer yar

Let the present age of son =x

Then, the present age of father =3x

According to the question,

The age of son after 12 years =x+12

And the age of father after 12 years =2(x+12)

Therefore,

3x+12=2(x+12)

3x+12=2x+24

x=12

So, the present age of son is 12 years and present age of father is 36 years.

Solution :

Let the present age of son's be r years & the present age of a father be m years.

\longrightarrow\sf{m=3r.....................(1)}

\underbrace{\bf{After\:12\:years\::}}}

The Son's age will be (r + 12) years.

The Father's age will be (m + 12) years.

Now;

\longrightarrow\sf{(m+12) =2(r+12)}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{m+12=2r+24}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{m-2r=24-12}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{m-2r=12}\\\\\longrightarrow\sf{3r-2r=12\:\:[from(1)]}\\\\\longrightarrow\bf{r=12\:years}

∴ Putting the value of r in equation (1),we get;

\longrightarrow\sf{m=3\times 12}\\\\\longrightarrow\bf{m=36\:years}

Thus;

The present age of father's will 36 years.

The present age of Son's will 12 years.
