let the son's age be x and father's age be y
2x = y
and , x+y = 99
now substituting 2x = y we get
x+2x = 99
3x = 99
x = 33
then y = 66

According to given sum,

Let age of son be x . then the fathers ages will be 2x .

And sum of ages =99

x+2x=99

3x=99

x=33

Hence the age of son is 33 & age of father is 66 .
