A's initial sums =  5520.04 Rs.

B's initial sums = 5279.91 Rs.

C's initial sums = 5060.05 Rs.

Given:

A father left ? 15,860 for his three sons A. B. C aged 16 years, 15 years, 14 years respectively.

Sum would be divided in such a way that three sons get the same amount (interest + principal) when they are adult (18 years old).

Assuming the rate of simple interest at 5% p.a.

To find:

Their initial sums (principals).

Explanation:

Consider initial sum of sons A. B. C are x,y,z

From given data

x+y+z = 15,860

Sons A get 2 year simple interest that is 5×2 = 10 % total interest

Sum after 18 year = 1.1 x

On the similar way,

Sum after 18 year B get= 1.15 y

Sum after 18 year C get= 1.2 z

After 18 year all are get same amount

That is          1.1 x =  1.15 y = 1.2 z

From this equation we can find value of y and z in terms of x

From above equation,

x+y+z = 15,860

x+ 0.9565 x + 0.91667 x=  15,860

x = 5520.04 Rs.

y = 5279.91 Rs.

z = 5060.05 Rs.
