let the present age of son be x. so father's age = 4x after 5 yrs, 4x+5=3(x+5) 4x+5=3x+15 4x-3x=15-5 x = 10 son 's present age =10 father's present age = 4*10=40 suppose after z yrs, father's age will be twice of son's age so 40+z = 2(10+z) 40+z = 20+2z z= 20 anseer is 20 yrs
