let the father's age= X
and let also sons age= X
so the future age of father = 4x+4

the future age of the sun = 3x
4(x)+4=3(x)
4x+4=3x+4
4x-3x=4+4
x=8
present age of son =8year
present age of father =32 years

Let the present age of son = 'x'.

Then, the age of father = 4x.

4 years hence:

⇒ Age of father = 4x + 4

⇒ Age of son = x + 4.

In 4 years time, the father will be three times as old as his son.

⇒ 4x + 4 = 3(x + 4)

⇒ 4x + 4 = 3x + 12

⇒ x = 8.

Therefore:

Present age of son = 8 years.

Present age of father = 32 years.

Hope it helps!
