Answer:

Father's age is 45

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x and y be the ages of the two children.

According to the question

Father's age =3(x+y) ---------> ( i )

After 5 years

Age of the children =2(x+y+5+5)

=2(x+y+10) ----> ( ii)

Father's age = 3(x+y)+5 ------->( iii)

Combining eq. ii & iii

We get,

3(x+y)+5=2(x+y+10)

3x+3y+5=2x+2y+20

3x-2x+3y-2y=20-5

:. x+y=15 ----->( iv )

eq. iv on i. We get

Father's age =3(x+y)

=3(15)

=45 years.
