A father's age is three times the sum of the ages of his two children,
but 20 years hence his age will be equal to the sum ofatheir ages.
Then the father's age is.​

Let the father and his children ages be a b and c respectively.

According to-question,

a=3(b+c)a=3(b+c)

=>b+c=a3....(i)=>b+c=a3....(i)

a+20=b+20+c+20a+20=b+20+c+20

=>a=b+c+20=>a=b+c+20

=>a=a3+20Fromequation(i)=>a=a3+20Fromequation(i)

=>2a3=20=>2a3=20

a=30 years

Given That:-

Let the sum of ages of his two children = x

Let the father's age be 3x

After 20 years,

Father's age = 3x+20

Sum of ages of his two children = x+40

According to question,

\sf 3x+20=x+40\\ \sf3x-x=40-20\\ \sf 2x=20\\ \sf x=\dfrac{20}{2}=10

Hence, the age of his father would be 3×10 = 30 years.
