Answer:

10:3.............is the answer

Step-by-step explanation:

let son's age be 5 years ago be x and father's age 5x

After 5 years [i.e. present age] ,sons and father's age x+5 and 5x+5

After 2 years

3(x+5+2) = 5x+5+2

3x+15+6 = 5x+7

14 = 2x

x= 7 years

present age = x+5 = 12 and 5x+5 = 40

ratio = 40:12 = 20:6 = 10:3

Let age of son 5 years ago = x years
Fathers age was 5x
Present ages of father and son 5x+5,x+5
Ages after 2 years 5x+ 7 , x+7
So 5x+7 =3(x+7)
5x+7 = 3x+ 21
2x= 14
X= 7
Ratio of present ages 40:12= 10:3
