Present age of father = 38

Let us check son's age 5 years back as 14.

Son's present age = 38/2 = 19

19 years back father = 19

Son = 0

5 years back son's age  = 19 - 5 = 14

If we took 19years for son before 5years son's present age will be 19+5 = 24 that means father shoould be 24years during his birth (38 - 24 = 14) not true

Let us assume that when son was born, father's age was x years and son's age was 0 years.

Now, according to father:-

Son's age is x years, which means that father has also grown x years.Now he is 2x years old.

Father is now x years older than his son.

Father's present age=38 years.

ATQ:-

38-x=x

38=x+x

38=2x

38/2=x

19=x

So the present age of son is 19 years.

His age five years back was (19-5) years
=14 years.
