A faulty thermometer has its fixed points marked as 5° and 95°. The temperature of a body measured by it is 59º. Find the correct temperature of the body on Celsius scale

90 division of faulty thermometer

=100 division of correct thermometer

Therefore 1 division of faulty thermometer =

(100/90)=10/9 division of correct thermometer

59-5=54 division of faulty thermometer

=(10/9)×54=60 division of correct thermometer

Correct temperature=60 degree since correct thermometer starts from 0.
