It is a very good activity performed by the children. They are working for the cause of a heathy earth as the saplings would grow into a tree or plant and provides oxygen and as that is produced by the plant is by conversion of carbon-dioxide and dioxide that that will also lower the green house effect and the depletion of Ozone layer caused by it.
