The Answer is here
let the number of friends =x
x-2=500/12.50
x-2=40

Answer:

10 will be the answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

let the total number of friends be x.

let the shared amount be y

when there are x friends, share on each friend will be

=> y = \frac{500}{x}_____eq.(i)

when two frnds are not there then

=> (y + 12.5) = 500/(x - 2)

=> (y+12.5)(x-2) = 500

=>  xy - 2y + 12.5 x - 25 = 500

=> xy - 2y + 12.5 x = 525

putting the value of y from eq. (i)

=> x(500/x) - 2*(500/x) + 12.5 x = 525

=> 12.5x - 1000/x = 25

=> 12.5 x^2 - 1000 = 25x

=> x^2 - 80 = 2x

=> x^2 - 2x - 80

on solving it

=> x = 10 or -8

since no of friend can't be negative

so the total number of friends are 10

Hope, you have got it.
