_______

Basically the brain is divided into three parts:

1. Forebrain, which consists of the:

a) Cerebrum- The principal section of the forebrain which is responsible for reasoning, judgement, thinking, memory, vision, audition, olfaction, etc.

b) Thalamus: This part of the brain acts as a relay centre and accepts impulses of pain and pressure and sends them to the cerebrum for proper analysis.

c) Hypothalamus: It controls the body temperature and actions of pituitary gland.

2. Midbrain, not of much use.

3. Hindbrain, which consists of:

a) Cerebellum: This part is responsible for body balance, correct posture of the body.

b) Pons Veroli: It transmits the impulses from one lobe of the cerebellum to the other and helps the medulla oblongata to carry out its functions.

c) Medulla oblongata: This part is very important, which controls the actions of involuntary muscles like respiration, heartbeat, breathing, etc.

The human brain is the command center for the human nervous system. It receives signals from the body's sensory organs and outputs information to the muscles. The human brain has the same basic structure as other mammal brains but is larger in relation to body size than any other brains.
