Scurvy is a deficiency disease which results in ulceration of the gums and teeth, leading to their bleeding, spontaneous bleeding(even from the skin),anaemia, limb pain etc.
If the sailors have experienced bleeding gums then there has been a severe lack of Vitamin C in their diet.
Well, they could've just caught fishes!! Seafood has adequate Vitamin C.But, they're sailors and they must've eaten seafood.Atleast ONCE.
Mark it as the brainliest!!
