The Union List or List-I can be defined as a list of 100 numbered items (the last item is numbered 97) as per the  Seventh Schedule of the Constitution of India  

The  Parliament of India has exclusive power to legislate.

The legislative section is categorized  into three lists:

  1. Union List
  2. State List
  3. Concurrent List.

The  residual powers remain with the Union Government.
