Explanation:

m1 = Mass of gun = 1.5 tonne

V1 = velocity of gun

m2 = mass of bullet = 15 kg

V2 = velocity of bullet = 150 m/s

Both are at rest therefore the momentum is zero.

According to the law of linear momentum.

0 = m1v1 + m2v2

0 = 1500 v1 + 15 x 150

0 = 10 v1 + 15

v1 = -15 /10

v1 = -1.5 m/s ( Negative sing shows the opposite direction of gun)

Hence the velocity of the gun during recoiling is 1.5 m/s
