Answer:

2655rs

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

  • Length of the rectangular field,l :- 100m
  • Breadth of the rectangular field,b :- 80m
  • A cross road running parallel to l and b of field with uniform width :- 3m
  • Cost of gravelling the road :- 5 per m²

To find,

  • Area of the road
  • Cost of road gravelling

To find the area of road we must first find area of field.

Formula of area of a Rectangle :-

  • a = l x b

Substitute the values from it :-

  • a = 100 x 80
  • a = 8000m²-------1

But the area of the field has road in it so,the new measurements are :-

  • l = 100 - 3 = 97m
  • b = 80 - 3 = 77m

Now substitute the values from the formula :-

  • a = 97 x 77
  • a = 7469m²--------2

Subtract 2 from 1 :-

  • a = 8000 - 7469
  • a = 531m²--------3

So (3) is the area of the road. Now the cost of gravelling :-

  • C = 5 x 531
  • C = 2655rs

Hope it helps
