= 100 + 50(10)

= 150 N

Answer:

Reading on machine is 390.5 N (39.8 Kg).

Explanation:

Force will be act on man

Let upward normal Reaction force acting on man by machine is R

upward tensile (T) force by rope on man, which value T = 100 N

Downward gravity force (W) by earth, which value W = mg

Taking gravity acceleration g =9.81 (\frac{m}{s^{2}})

W = 50× 9.81 = 490.5 N

Force equilibrium equation in vertical direction

R + T = W

R + 100 = 490.5

R = 390.5 N which is force exerted by machine on man.

From newton's third law

force exerted by man on machine is R which value is 390.5 N.

but reading shown by machine is \frac{R}{g}

so reading shown by machine = \frac{390.5}{9.81} =39.8 kg.
