Answer:

a) given p(x) = +2x+5

p(1) = (1)²+2(1)+5 = 1 +2+5 = 3+5 = 8

b) p(x) = +2x+k

given, x-1 is a factor of p(x)

so p(x) = 0 when taken, x-1 = 0 > x = 1

substitute in p(x)

(1)²+2(1)+k = 0

1+2+k = 0

3+k = 0

k = -3

hope it helps.....
