A fire that has started can be extinguished by pouring water over the burning

material , by throwing sand , by using CO2 as fire extinguisher and by wrapping blanket .

i) How water help to extinguish the fire ?

ii) How fire caused by oil can be controlled ?

Iii)What should be done if persons clothes catch fire ?

Iv) Fire caused due to electricity cannot be extinguished by water. Why?​

Explanation:

(i) The main thing needed for a thing to burn is OXYGEN so when water is poured the O2 supply will be reduced.Hence water helps in extinguishing fire.

(ii) Fire caused by oil can be controlled by using sand . Water cannot be used here because of density difference.

(iii) When a person's cloth catches fire they should be wrapped using a blanket and should roll too and fro in the group to avoid intensive injuries.

(iv) Fire caused by electricity cannot be extinguished by water because water is a good conductor of electricity.So,to extinguish electrical fire accidents CO2 fire extinguishers can be used.
