A fish dies when taken out of water, whereas a rat dies when kept under water. '' What is this ability called that allow fish and rat to survive in their respective habitats

fishes live in water because they are now used to it and they have evoluted their hands as fins to live in water also they develop gills to take dissolved oxygen to breathe, whereas a rat is a terrestrial animal have evoluted itself to live on land.

this ability of surviving in their respective habitats is known as ADAPTATION.
