A fish is swimming 15 m below the surface of a lake, as shown in figure. The density of the water is "1000 kg / m^3". Atmospheric pressure is "100 000 Pa". The acceleration of free fall g is "10 m / s^2". What is the total pressure on the fish?

Answer:

Given: h=15m,p = 1000kg/m³,g = 10m/s², pa = 1.01 × 10^5pa

Pressure on fish = pressure of atmosphere + pressure of water

= 1 × 10^(-5)pa + pgh

= 1 × 10^5 + 1000 x 10 x 15

= 2.51 × 10^5pa ≈ 2 atm.
