STEP 1: Find the fraction of water poured in:

7/8 - 1/2 = 7/8 - 4/8 = 3/8

.

STEP 2: Find capacity of the tank:

Fraction of the water poured in = 3/8

Amount of water poured in = 10 liters

3/8 = 10 liters

1/8 = 10 ÷ 3 = 10/3

8/8 = 10/3 x 8 = 80/3 = 26 2/3 liters

.

Answer: The capacity of the tank is 26 2/3 litres
