Answer:

Total number of chocolates = 300

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of students in the class and 'y' be the number of chocolate each student gets

Then, the total number of chocolates  = xy -------------------(1)

Since, the number of students is 12 times the number of chocolates each student get we have,

x = 12y ------------------(2)

Also, if the number of students is half, the number of chocolates each student gets = 10

Then the total number of chocolates in this case

\frac{x}{2} ×10 = 5x --------------(3)

From equations (1) and (3) we get

xy = 5x

canceling x on both sides we get

y = 5

From equation (2), x = 12×5 = 60

Hence total number of chocolates = 60×5 = 300

Answer:

Total number of chocolates = 300
