A flag pole 4m tall casts a 6 m., shadow. At the same time, a nearby building casts a shadow of 24m. How tall is the building?

The building is 16 m tall.

You can create a ratio of the shadow to the height to solve this.

Begin by creating the ratio of 6:4, that of which is the shadow to the height

For the building, the ratio would become 24:x

As 24 is 4 times as great as the 6, the 4 must be 4 times as much.

This means that x = (4)(4)

so x = 16 m
