Given :–
- Length of floor = 4.5m long
- Breadth of floor = 3.6m wide
- A 6cm square tile costs rupees 23.25
To Find :–
- Cost to cover the floor with these tiles.
Solution :–
Area of the floor = Length of floor × Breadth of floor
→ 4.5m × 3.6m
First, convert meter into cm.
For converting,
We know that, 1m = 100cm
So, for converting we have to multiply both the length and breadth with 100.
Therefore,
- Length = 4.5 × 100 = 450
- Breadth = 3.6 × 100 = 360
Now, we have to find the area of the floor.
→ 450 × 360
→ 162000cm²
- Area of the floor = 162000cm²
Now, we have to find the area of a tile,
Area of a square tile = (side)²
→ side × side
- Side of square tile is given = 6cm.
→ 6 × 6
→ 36cm
- Area of a tile = 36cm.
Now, we have to find number of tiles,
So for finding number of tiles, we divide the area of the floor by area of a tile.
Number of tiles =
→
Cut the numbers by 2.
→
Again cut the numbers by 2.
→
Now, cut the numbers by 3.
→
Again cut the number by 3.
→ 4500
- Number of tiles = 4,500
- Cost of 1 tile = Rs. 23.25 [Given]
So,
Cost of 4,500 tiles = Cost of 1 tile × Number of tiles
→ 23.25 × 4500
→ Rs. 1,04,625
Hence,
- Cost of 4,500 tiles = Rs. 1,04,625.
