A floor having length of 72ft and width of 36ft needs to be covered with square tiles of edge length 2 1/4 ft. The same tiles need to be placed all around this floor. How many tiles will be needed in All? ALSO the boundary tiles need to coloured black. If 1 bucket of black paint can color 6 4/5 tiles , then find the number of buckets required?

The answer given 512 tiles for floor 100 tiles for boundary , 14 12/17 buckets of paint. Please give steps to get this answer

here ur answer goes...

here is ur solution..

if

if the length of the floor= 72 ft

and the width= 36ft

so area of the

floor = 72x36 = 2952 f. square

edge length of tiles=2 1/4 = 5/4.f

if the length of tile is = 1f

then width = √[ (5/4) square -1)]

=√[25/16-1]

=√[(25-16)/16)]

=√[9/16]

=3/4f

so the area of tiles= 1×3/4=3/4 f

then the number of tiles = 2952÷3/5=3456

The number of tiles = 34596 is ans 1

The boundary tiles

in the length of both side is

(72+72)/1=144

and in width ......in above pic

hope it helps u
