★ Answer ★

The area of the floor that is not carpeted is 11 m² .

Step by step Explanation :-

★ Given :-

  • Length of the floor ↬ 5 m long
  • Width of the floor ↬ 4 m wide.
  • Side of the square carpet ↬ 3m.

★ Have to Find :-

Find the area of the floor that is not carpeted.

★ Solution :-

As we all know the formula of area of rectangle.

Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth

From the given, we got the length and breadth .

Now,

Substituting the values in the above formula :-

↬ Area = 5 m × 4 m

↬ Area = 20 m²

So, the area of the floor ↬ 20m²

Let's find out the area of floor carpet,

As according to the Question the carpet is in square shape .

Then ,

Area of square ↬ ( Side) ²

After putting up the values , we get

↬ (3 m)²

9 m²

Now, we find the area of floor that is not carpeted, which is equal to the :-

Area of floor that is not carpeted = (Area of floor) - (Area of square carpet)

↬ 20 m² - 9 m²

11 m²

Hence, The area of the floor that is not carpeted is 11 m² .

Some basic formulas which are really helpful in such type of questions

↬ Perimeter of Rectangle = 2( L + B )

↬ Perimeter of square = 4 × Side

↬ Perimeter of triangle = AB + BC + CA

↬ Area of Rectangle = L × B

↬ Area of Square = ( side ) ²

↬ Area of Rhombus = Product of Diagonal/2.

↬ Area of Parallelogram = Base × Height.

↬ Area of triangle = 1/2 × base × height .
