Given:-

  • Length of the Floor = 5 m

  • Breadth of the Floor = 4 m

  • Side of square carpet = 3 m

To Find:-

  • Area of the floor that is not carpeted.

Formula Used:-

  • {\boxed{\bf{Area\:of\: Rectangle= Length \times Breadth}}}

  • {\boxed{\bf{Area\:of\: Square= Side^2}}}

Solution:-

Firstly Using Formula,

\sf :\implies\:Area\:of\: Rectangle= Length \times Breadth

Putting values,

\sf :\implies\:Area\:of\: Floor= 5 \times 4

\sf :\implies\:Area\:of\: Rectangle= 20\:m^2

Now Using Formula,

\sf :\implies\:Area\:of\: Square= Side^2

Putting values,

\sf :\implies\:Area\:of\: Carpet= 3^2

\sf :\implies\:Area\:of\: Carpet= 9\:m^2

Now,

Area of the floor that is not carpeted :-

\sf = Area\:of\: Floor - Area\:of\: Carpet

\sf = (20 - 9)\:m^2

\sf = 11\:m^2

Hence, Area of the floor that is not carpeted is 11 .
