Hey mate

Here's your answer

Area of Floor
= L X b
= 5 X 4
= 20 m²

Area of Carpet
= S x S
= 3 x 3
= 9 m²

Area of floor which is not carpeted
= Area of floor - Area of carpet
= 20 - 9
= 11 m²

Hope this helps you

\underline{\underline{\huge{\textbf{Solution:}}}}

Given,
Length of the Floor \ell = 5\: m
breadth of the Floor b = 4\: m

A carpet is laid on the Floor

Side of Carpet s = 3\: m

\underline{\large{\textsf{Step-1:}}}
Find the Area of the Floor

Shape of the Floor is Rectangular.

Area of the Floor = Area of Rectangle

We have,
Area of Rectangle A = \ell \times b

Substituting Values

Area of the floorA_{f} = 5 \times 4

\implies Area\: of\: the\: floor\: A_{f} = 20\: m^{2}

\underline{\large{\textsf{Step-2:}}}
Find the Area of the Carpet

Shape of the Carpet is square

Area of Carpet = Area of the square

We have,
Area of the square = s^{2}

Substituting Values

Area of the carpet A_{c} = 3^{2}

\implies Area\: of\: the\: carpet\: A_{c} = 20\: m^{2}

\underline{\large{\textsf{Step-3:}}}
Find the Area of the floor which is not carpeted.

Area of the floor which is not carpeted is the Area of Carpet removed from the area of the floor

The Area of the floor which is not carpeted
= Area of the floor - Area of the carpet
= A_{f} - A_{c}
= 20 - 9
=  11\: m^{2}

\therefore
 11\: m^{2} of the floor is not carpeted.
