Answer:

uncovered area = area of floor- area of carpet

= (6*5) - (3*3)

=30-9

therefore uncovered area is equal to=

Given:

✰ Length of a floor = 6 m

✰ Breadth of a floor = 5 m

✰ Length of each side of a square carpet = 3 m

To find:

✠ The area of the floor that is not carpeted.

Solution:

Let's understand the concept first! First we will find the area of the floor by using the formula to calculate area, putting the values in the formula and then doing the required calculations. Then, we will calculate the area of a square carpet i.e, the area of the floor which is carpeted. After that we will subtract the area of square square carpet from the area of the floor to get the area of the floor that is not carpeted.

Let's find out...!

Area = length × breadth

➛ Area of floor = 6 × 5

➛ Area of floor = 30 m²

Area = (side)²

➛ Area of a square carpet = ( 3 )²

➛ Area of a square carpet = 3 × 3

➛ Area of a square carpet = 9 m²

Now,

➤ The area of the floor that is not carpeted = Total area of floor - area of a square carpet

➤ The area of the floor that is not carpeted = 30 - 9

➤ The area of the floor that is not carpeted = 21 m²

The area of the floor that is not carpeted = 21
