Area of the floor = 15x8 = 120 m

Area of the tile= 0.50x0.25 = 0.125 m

No of tiles used = Area of floor/Area of each tile = 120/0.125 = 50*25=960 tiles

Now length of the carpet = 15-2 = 13 m

width of the carpet = 8-2 = 6 m

Area of the carpet = 13x6 = 78

Uncovered area = 120 - 78 = 42 m

Fraction of uncoverd area = 42/120 = 0.35
